Staycation in Seattle: Thompson Seattle Hotel Review

Going to Seattle for the weekend or a for a day trip from Vancouver is a really accessible and easy thing to do if you're looking for a short getaway. Justin & I have been down to Seattle and Bellevue a few times in the past, mostly to shop and visit relatives. Earlier this year for NYE '17, we spontaneously decided to ring in the new year out of the city and drove down south of the border. We stayed downtown at Thompson Seattle, which was such a treat. It's a perfect staycation spot and splurge worthy if you're looking to treat yourself. I've listed my highlights of the hotel in this blog post.

Comfy vibe

The beds here were so plushy and comfortable! It was hard to get out of bed when you're basically sleeping on a cloud haha. As for the room, we had a scenic view room with floor to ceiling windows that pour in light and reveal the most beautiful view of the water. The hotel is an upscale boutique vibe and it was evident in the art deco aesthetic.

Modern bathroom

The bathroom was clean, tidy and pretty spacious considering the hotel room isn't that big. I appreciated all the modern touches with the faucet, waterfall shower head and floating shelf. The bathroom shower glass door doesn't close all the way, which was a little bit odd to me because water can splash out and it also gets cold in the shower... but I guess it's not meant to be practical. That's okay since the free designer toiletries make up for it haha.

Best view in the city

Up at the rooftop of Thompson Seattle is the iconic rooftop bar The Nest. It's definitely a hot spot for the amazing views of the city and a nice place to take in the vibe with some drinks and bites. We were to celebrate New Year's Eve and it was a night to remember!

Prime location

The hotel is just steps away from Pike Place Market. You're literally footsteps away from enjoying the best coffee and experiencing the vibrant scene at the market! It gets super hectic at the market in the day, which gets overwhelming for me and most people. For a nice quiet latte break and some fresh pastries, you've got to check out Storyville Coffee at Pike Place. It's located upstairs in a building and has such a happy and cozy vibe. If you love coffee, you'll love it here!
