My Current Favourite Beauty Products

August 2017

Hey loves,

I've recently discovered some amazing beauty products and wanted to share what I like about them! I've definitely been trying to up my beauty game by learning more about different brands and new products. I have a specific mission in mind right now when I look for beauty products as I'm always looking for the ultimate product that I'll be able to wear on my wedding day.

On that note, I have a little side story about my personal experience at Sephora that I wanted to share. I decided to reserve a personal beauty consult at Sephora, which was my very first time doing so ever. I realized that after being a Sephora VIB Rouge for years, I should take advantage of the complimentary services offered. Keep in mind though, that if you don't have Rouge status, you do have to spend $125. It seems like a lot. But honestly, it's worth it if you are already planning to purchase products as the consult is 90 minutes long. It's a good one on one session to ask your makeup artist about anything you want so it's good value.

My makeup artist was so knowledgeable and taught me a lot of tricks and tips that blew my mind. I also discovered new brands such as Hourglass through my session with her, and am currently obsessed with their lipstick and lip treatment oil products. I definitely recommend making a reservation for a custom makeover (it can even be 15 mins!) if you're like me and wanting a more personal experience to learn new techniques, products and brands to simply elevate your beauty game.

Here are my current favourite beauty products:

Hourglass Confession Ultra Slim High Intensity Refillable Lipstick - This is the most luxurious lipstick I've ever come across. First of all, the packaging looks so sleek and beautiful. I like that you can refill it once you're done. The colour I'm wearing is called I Want which is a medium rose. It's a perfect nude, and I can't wait to try other colours. The texture of the product feels super creamy yet never heavy on my lips. I think it has more of a lustrous finish compared to Bite Beauty lipsticks which gives you a nice plump look. I recently discovered Hourglass products and am so glad I did, as it is a cruelty-free and vegan-friendly brand.

Hourglass N° 28 Lip Treatment Oil - Okay, let me just say that this is a true game changer for me as I always have super dry lips. If there's one lip product to invest in, I would say this is it for sure! This is an advanced anti-aging treatment for lips and in the long run, helps to strengthen the moisture barrier of your lips and elevate the shape, texture and volume of your lips. My personal highlight of this is applying the product with a super opulent 24 karat, antibacterial, gold-plated tip. This is an ultimate luxury lip product that I'm obsessed with.

Nars Soft Matte Complete Concealer - This has been in my beauty collection for a while but I've recently started using this more. I like that this applies like a cream but finishes like a powder for a natural and smooth look. The colour I wear is medium custard. You can watch how I apply this concealer in my everyday makeup look video here. (PS. I felt I should comment that I have been a Nars fan for years, and was disappointed to learn recently that their products no longer qualify as cruelty-free due to the company's decision to start selling in the Chinese market. I really hope that the company follows through with their statement that they are looking into alternative methods with the goal for a cruelty-free world, because that's so important to me as a consumer.)

Nars Bord De Plage Highlighting and Bronzing Palette - I will admit I am totally into the highlight and contour trend that has taken over the beauty industry by storm. My philosophy towards highlighting and contouring is never to transform my look, but simply to enhance my natural features. It's pretty crazy how playing with light and shadow can really help to enhance what you have already. I was actually running out of the Laguna bronzing powder, and when I saw that this limited edition palette came with Laguna and Casino, I decided to go for it. You get the cult classic bronzers plus four beautiful highlight shades which to me, is awesome value!

Too Faced Melted Matte Liquified Long Wear Lipstick - I was hesitant to try this as I tend to correlate matte lipsticks with super dry feeling lips. However, this lipstick is actually a liquid formula that dries with a matte finish so the application is pretty comfortable. The colour that I really like is called Queen B, which is a feminine and pretty soft mauve. It's also surprisingly very long lasting which I was impressed by.

Shiseido Full Lash and Brow Serum - I've been trying to grow out my brows and lashes for the past couple months, and after using this serum I must say that I've seen results with thicker looking brows. I also wear lash extensions most of the time, so applying this serum on my lashes everyday helps to strengthen them and make them appear more full and dense.

Have you used any of these products and have similar products you like as well? Please let me know in the comments below and have a wonderful day!
